How can you engage the disengaged, connect with the disconnected, and reach the growing number of students in your classroom that are considered at-risk? Gain a better understanding of the contributing factors that put your students at risk and arm yourself with strategies to reach and teach this challenging population of students.
Goals and Objectives: As a result of participation in this course, students will be able to:
- Identify characteristics and contributing factors for being "at risk".
- Analyze the difference between obedience and responsibility and the implications for schools.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to “reclaim” at-risk students.
- Apply knowledge of at-risk issues to their teaching/classroom.
