How can you engage the disengaged, connect with the disconnected, and reach the growing number of students in your classroom that are considered at-risk? Gain a better understanding of the contributing factors that put your students at risk and arm yourself with strategies to reach and teach this challenging population of students.

Goals and Objectives: As a result of participation in this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify characteristics and contributing factors for being "at risk".
  2. Analyze the difference between obedience and responsibility and the implications for schools.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of how to “reclaim” at-risk students.
  4. Apply knowledge of at-risk issues to their teaching/classroom.
