Cuts Hit Military Base Schools Hardest :: For school children living on a military base, life can be tough as they are constantly moving around and often have parents being deployed oversees. However, due to the latest round of sequestration budget cuts, some services that could potentially help these children could be taken away.

Over Two Hundred Denver Teachers Let Go :: In a recent meeting to discuss school personnel issues, the Denver school board voted 5-2 to not renew the contracts of 220 probationary teachers. The decision came after a 10-hour meeting that ended in a vote to delay the decision over the weekend.

VA District Ends Agreement with K12 Inc. :: Carroll County district, a 3,900-student district in southwestern Virginia, plans to end its contract with K12 Inc., the for-profit provider that operates the state’s largest full-time, online school and provides virtual schools and education services across the county.

Chicago Board of Ed Votes on Closings :: The Chicago Board of Education will vote this week on whether to shut down 53 elementary schools and one high school program a part of the Chicago Public Schools district. The school board will vote on the plan this Wednesday.
