Enhance both writing and reading instruction through the use of a writer’s notebook, a proven literacy tool used in classrooms across the country. Explore strategies, techniques, and rationale for the writer’s notebook—and learn how to make the notebook an essential part of your writing program. Lesson ideas, tips and samples will be provided throughout.

Goals and Objectives: As a result of participation in this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand how to initiate the writer’s notebook.
  2. Identify mini-lessons to use in the classroom for improvement of writing skills.
  3. Explore the relationship/connection between reading and writing strategies.
  4. Analyze the connection between strong thinking skills and strong writing skills.
