This course will help make your school/classroom a safer place for all students to learn. Explore the following areas: school-wide anti-bullying measures, problem solving dialogue, the role of the bystander, building staff-to-student connections, supporting and empowering the targets of bullies, and more. Discover new ways to reduce bullying regardless of what level/subject you teach.

Goals and Objectives: As a result of participation in this course, students will be able to:

  1. Gain knowledge of situations and factors that cause bullying.
  2. Understand how discipline and interventions can help in a bullying situation.
  3. Explore guidelines for a school discipline system.
  4. Investigate the important role of the peer bystander.
  5. Examine a bullying prevention program.
  6. Design ways of decreasing bullying in their classroom/school.
  7. Understand important issues involved in cyber bullying and understand the negative impact bullying has on students.
