Course Description

This course explores the impact of legal and political systems on the management of international and global business. Topics include an introduction to the influence that political and legal systems have on conducting business, legal structure and government regulations, property, contract and employment law, and how to manage the process of dispute resolution.

International Legal Systems

  • Compare and contrast various legal systems.

  • Analyze the role of the Internet and telecommunications law and its impact and enforcement in cyberspace.
  • Differentiate between what is legal and what is ethical.

Property, Contract, and Employment Law

  • Identify the key issues relating to patents, copyrights, and trademark protection in international business.
  • Analyze the components used to structure contracts for multinational business.

Legal Structures of Organizations

  • Compare and contrast the effectiveness of legal structures for conducting business domestically and internationally.

Government Regulations

  • Describe the types of government regulations.
