Information Literacy for Lifelong Learning
This course will focus on the ability to find and use information-the keystone of lifelong learning. Emphasis will be placed on selecting, evaluating, and organizing resources. Students will discuss instructional techniques and assessment for teaching information literacy. Ethical issues of plagiarism will also be addressed.

Information Retrieval
- Define information retrieval needs for library patrons.
- Survey the likely strategies for student information retrieval.
Effective and Efficient Research
- Discuss pre-search requirements for an effective and efficient search.
- Describe effective strategies for creation of search queries.
- Identify potential information resources based on search parameters.
Organizing and Evaluating Information Resources
- Examine the process for organizing and cataloging library resources
- Evaluate information resources critically and competently to determine authenticity and validity.
Citing and Plagiarism
- Differentiate among different types of plagiarism.
- Analyze strategies for plagiarism detection.
- Discuss the potential consequences of plagiarism.
- Define appropriate strategies for quoting, paraphrasing, and citing.
Instruction for Information Literacy
- Identify processes for information instruction.
- Design an information literacy lesson.
Advocacy for Information Literacy
- Locate national, state, and local guidelines for information literacy.
- Analyze strategies for promoting information literacy within the school community.
