  • Examine Erikson's eight stages of human development.
  • Describe typical situations and problems that confront children.

Counseling Versus Psychotherapy

  • Examine the differences between counseling and psychotherapy.
  • Examine the areas, expectations, general techniques, and interventions of counseling.

Counseling Processes

  • Compare and contrast the BASIC ID and HELPING counseling processes.
  • Examine counseling theories (e.g., Reality Therapy/Choice Theory, Solution-
  • Focused Brief Counseling, etc.).
  • Identify the six steps included in a general model for counseling.
  • Examine legal considerations in counseling.
  • Analyze the first interview process.

Intervention and Consultation Skills Related to School and Community Clientele

  • Examine values of a multicultural counselor.

  • Identify the exceptional child.
