Course Description
This course examines the processes and approaches using courseware to design and develop learning objects. This course will focus on the systematic processes and techniques of computer-mediated instruction that include analysis, design, development, implementation, and assessment.
Topics and Objectives
Overview of Courseware Authoring
- Examine courseware-authoring applications.
- Review the steps of the systematic design of instruction model.
- Apply the steps of the systematic design process to a courseware-authoring plan.
Analysis Phase
- Identify the general characteristics of a target population in the analysis phase of a courseware-authoring plan.
- Use a needs assessment in the analysis phase of a courseware-authoring plan.
- Determine the format (e.g., structured versus self-paced) of the courseware-authoring plan from the analysis phase.
Design Phase
- Examine the components of a properly written performance objective.
- Write measurable instructional objectives that meet the needs identified in the analysis phase of the courseware-authoring plan.
- Design content and course instruction clearly and logically.
Development Phase

Assessment Phase
