Finally, a course specifically designed to help you work with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Explore the following important components: characteristics and types of ASD, the role of assistive technology, intervention models, proven instructional approaches, parent involvement techniques, and available support services.
Goals and Objectives: As a result of participation in this course, students will be able to:
- Gain knowledge and understanding of the five types of ASD.
- Incorporate an intervention model into a classroom lesson plan.
- Understand effective use of assistive technology in the classroom.
- Analyze instructional approaches for ASD students.
- Evaluate identification tools used to determine ASD eligibility.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of various intervention strategies.
- Synthesize the arguments for/against integration of students with ASD into mainstream classrooms.
