Finally, a course specifically designed to help you work with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Explore the following important components: characteristics and types of ASD, the role of assistive technology, intervention models, proven instructional approaches, parent involvement techniques, and available support services.

Goals and Objectives: As a result of participation in this course, students will be able to:

  1. Gain knowledge and understanding of the five types of ASD.
  2. Incorporate an intervention model into a classroom lesson plan.
  3. Understand effective use of assistive technology in the classroom.
  4. Analyze instructional approaches for ASD students.
  5. Evaluate identification tools used to determine ASD eligibility.
  6. Evaluate the effectiveness of various intervention strategies.
  7. Synthesize the arguments for/against integration of students with ASD into mainstream classrooms.
